Rivers and Streams - Information on the Umpqua, Siuslaw, Nestucca,
Salmon, Siletz, Alsea, Smith, and Little Nestucca Rivers, as well as Lake Creek,
in the Siuslaw National Forest.
Lakes - Information on Alder, Dune, Sutton, Mercer, Munsel, Cleawox, Woahink,
Siltcoos, Georgia, Erhart, Carter, Tahkenitch, Threemile, Elbow, Marie,
Eel, Tenmile, Lily, Saunders, Hall, and Shuttpelz Lakes, as well as Winchester
Bay, in the Siuslaw National Forest.

Alder Dune Campground - Located in coastal forest, 6 miles north of
Florence. Alder Lake borders a portion of the campsites in the northern
loop. The Alder Dune Day Use Area is in the campground next to Dune Lake. Trails
access sand dunes and the ocean.
Blackberry Campground - Located 18 miles east of Waldport. The Alsea
River flows beside the campground and provides opportunities for fishing, and
boating (winter only).
Bluebill Campground - Located 1.5 miles north of North Bend, near Bluebill
Lake.
Bluebill Trail is a one mile loop around the Lake. Nearby Bluebill Trailhead
day use area allows parking to access trail. Campground is approximately 1/4
mile from the beach.
Castle Rock Campground - Located on Highway 22 where Highway 22 crosses
Three Rivers, Castle Rock Campground is 4.2 miles south of Hebo, Oregon.
It is known as a great spot for campers and fisherman.
Hebo Lake Campground - Located on Forest Service Road 14, 4.5 miles east of
Hebo. Offers access to the
Pioneer–Indian Trail, Hebo Lake Loop Trail, and
Hebo Lake, popular trout fishing lake.
Mike Bauer Wayside - Located 16.5 miles east of Waldport on highway 34. Mike Bauer Wayside is an accessible fishing site on the Alsea River. This is a local favorite for fishermen looking to catch steelhead
and chinook.
Riveredge Group Campground - Located 22
miles east of Waldport. Riveredge
group campground is a large camping area located beside
highway 34. There is a large shelter with picnic tables,
fire pit, cooking grills and sink. There is plenty of room
for field activities and tent camping. The day use area has
access to the Alsea River providing opportunities for quiet
walks, seasonal fishing, and fall to winter drift boating.
Rocky Bend Campground - Located on Upper Nestucca River
Road, 15 miles east of Beaver, with close access to the
Nestucca River and the salmon and steelhead fishing during
the season.
South Jetty Day Use Area - Located 1 mile south of
Florence. Visitors will find the crab dock that
provides opportunities to enjoy a day of crabbing or
fishing. Activities include OHV riding, picnicking,
beach access, crabbing, fishing, surfing, beachcombing, dog
walking, sightseeing.
South Lake Campground - Located off Hwy 22, 13 miles
south of Hebo. A popular site for hunting and fishing. The
Lake is stocked periodically with rainbow trout. It is
also the south trailhead of the
Pioneer–Indian trail.
Sutton Boat Launch - Located 3 miles north of Florence, along Sutton Lake,
the Sutton Boat Launch provides good fishing just outside of Florence.
Tahkenitch Boat Ramp - Located 8 miles
northeast of Reedsport. Boaters looking for bass
or trout fishing
will find the 1,674 acre Tahkenitch Lake the place to be.
Tillicum Beach Campground - Located 4 miles south of
Waldport. Tillicum Beach Campground is located on the Oregon
Coast. Many of the campsites have beachfront views great for
watching the sunset. This is a beautiful location for long
walks on the beach. Cape Perpetua Scenic Area is located 4
miles north on Highway 101.
Tyee Campground - Located 6 miles south of Florence.
A small campground with Siltcoos River access. It
offers camping, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, birdwatching,
and wildlife. Dune trails located nearby with access
from the Siltcoos Beach Road.
Waxmyrtle Campground - Located 7 miles south of
Florence. Near the Siltcoos River, this campground offers
fishing, hiking, bird watching, beachcombing, and wildlife.
Adjacent to the campground is the
Waxmyrtle Trail. Additionally, the
Lagoon Trail is only 1/8th mile away, and the
Chief Tsiltcoos Trail is also nearby.

Florence to Coos Bay

The landscape changes south of
Florence although the most dramatic change, the Oregon Dunes National
Recreation Area, is often hidden from view. The 47-mile long and one-mile wide
sandbox has areas designated for bird watching and dune riding.
Oregon Dunes National Recreation
Area, more than 31,000 acres, offers a place for everyone. You can camp,
arrange a tour, take an exhilarating off-highway vehicle ride, walk along
tranquil lakes, forest trails and beaches, and much more.
Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area is a destination site, drawing
people from around the Northwest and other areas of the country.
Highway 38 offers connections to
the southern Willamette Valley and the city of Eugene, or on to Roseburg via
Highway 138.

Florence to Newport -

The central section of the Siuslaw
National Forest finds
Scenic Byway Highway 101, part of the
Pacific Coast
Scenic Byway, moving closer to the Pacific
Ocean providing outstanding views of the Pacific Ocean and plenty of publicly
owned beaches to wander on.
Cape Perpetua Scenic Area, located in between Newport and Florence, offers
the Forest visitor a chance to wander through old-growth Sitka Spruce,
experience crashing surf, investigate tide pools, whale watch or take a guided
hike.
Check out a haunted lighthouse
keeper’s home at
Heceta
Head State Park. Try boating, fishing, and hiking to waterfalls.
Inland are more recreational opportunities in the Coast Range, including
Marys Peak.
Highways 20, 34 and 126 offer
connections to the mid and southern Willamette Valley and the cities of
Corvallis and Eugene.

Tillamook to Newport -

A visitor to the Siuslaw National
Forest traveling from Tillamook to Newport will find farmland, rolling hills,
some sand dunes at
Sand Lake Recreation Area. By choosing the Three Cape Scenic Loop, you
will discover headlands with fantastic views of the Pacific Ocean.
Visitors can hike, camp, picnic or
ride their off-highway vehicle.
Scenic Byway Highway 101, part of the
Pacific Coast Scenic Byway, transports travelers from Tillamook to Newport
with connecting routes of Highways 22 and 18 to Portland and Salem.
